Meet Your Trainer: Sarah Bostock | Canine Evolution
Hey everyone! I wanted to take a moment to formally introduce myself.
My name is Sarah Bostock, and I’ve been in Minnesota for a little over 4 years now. Originally from Florida but here braving the cold.
My Background & Experience
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in both Biology and Psychology from UCF, with a focus on animal behavior. During college, I had the incredible opportunity to work as a wolf educator under one of the world’s leading wolf biologists, Dr. David Mech, learning to interpret canine behavior at its most fundamental level.
I’ve worked in zoos, sanctuaries, and veterinary medicine, managing two different veterinary clinics and working with everything from large carnivores to marine life at SeaWorld. However, my true passion has always been dogs—especially understanding their behavior and strengthening the human-canine bond.

Training Philosophy
I combine my scientific background with over a decade of hands-on experience to take a positive first, balanced approach to training. Every dog is unique, so I tailor training methods to fit their individual needs, temperament, and challenges. I am open to using all tools and take a more LIMA approach when choosing tools, focusing on what works best for each dog. My training incorporates all four quadrants of learning theory, and I take the time to educate owners on which methods we’re using, why, and how they benefit their dog’s progress.
Specialties & Services
Obedience Training (Basic to Advanced)
I have trained thousands of dogs, as well as cheetahs for voluntary blood draws and turtles for target feeding. I have experience working in a variety of settings, including board & train programs, private lessons, group classes, and seminars.
Behavior Modification
I have extensive experience working with reactive, fearful, and aggressive dogs, specializing in cases that many trainers consider too difficult or high-risk. I have worked in some of Florida’s top behavior rehabilitation centers, including Central Florida K9, where I helped rehabilitate dogs that were considered unadoptable or on the verge of behavioral euthanasia.
My approach to behavior modification is rooted in a deep understanding of canine psychology, body language, and learning theory. I do not simply suppress unwanted behaviors—I work to identify the underlying causes and address them at the source. Whether it’s reactivity, fear-based behaviors, anxiety, resource guarding, territorial aggression, or human and dog-directed aggression, I tailor my training plans to ensure both safety and long-term success.
I believe in structured training, confidence building, and clear communication to help dogs make better choices and develop more stable temperaments. Through a combination of desensitization, counter-conditioning, obedience training, and behavior management strategies, I have helped many families regain control and rebuild trust with their dogs.
Not only do I modify behaviors, but I also take the time to educate owners on how to read their dog’s body language, manage triggers, and create a training plan that is sustainable for their lifestyle. My goal is not just to train the dog but to provide owners with the knowledge and tools to continue reinforcing progress long after our sessions end.
Protection Training
I began protection work in 2018 and trained police K9s, including SWAT and hospital contract dogs, under Rock Galloway, a certified law enforcement evaluator at Central Florida K9. I am the Training Director for Twin Cities PSA Club. I am an instructor in Shawn Edward’s Deadpool Decoy School. I have also sold many personal protection dogs.
Service Dog Training
I trained under a former lead trainer at Canine Companions for Independence (CCI) for four years. I have experience with a variety of service dog tasks, including mobility support, PTSD and autism assistance (DPT, crowd blocking, medicine retrieval), allergen and blood sugar alerting, and guide work. I have also worked with programs such as Southeastern Guide Dogs, The Seeing Eye, CCI, and KSDS.
I am selective with service dog clients—handlers must require medical assistance, and dogs must be suitable candidates for service work.
Dog Sports & Competition
I train and compete in a variety of sports, including Protection Sports, Barn Hunt, Disc, Scent Work, Lure Coursing, NASDA, and Agility. I love introducing new handlers to the world of dog sports as a way to build confidence and teamwork with their dogs. I do not just compete with Malinois but also a pug (Rip Marty), and a floppy ear All American Mix. I do think it is important trainers don’t just have Biddable Malinois/ Border Collies as their Demo dogs but also other breeds.
